First hand reporting on how to save and still use the world’s wild places.
This lecture is based on Jeremy Purseglove’s new book ‘Working with Nature’ published in summer 2019. It covers a lifetime of working to moderate development and reduce monocultures. The central message is that in many cases we can harvest the earth’s resources provided we do so carefully. This account from the front line of nature conservation includes retaining riverine forest within palm oil plantations, promoting cocoa cultivation in the shade of Trinidad’s rainforest in order to protect and police the forest and also an account of the current ‘Great African Land Grab’ whereby destructive agribusiness is sweeping through sub-Saharan Africa.
This will be followed by the opportunity to purchase and have signed Jeremy ‘s publications.
