Patrick Barkham has travelled to some of the smallest and most intriguing British isles to meet their human and non-human residents. In this illustrated talk, he journeys from sizeable small islands to ever tinier islets telling stories about their wild inhabitants, from Orkney voles to Bonxies. What do small islands tell us about our relationship with the natural world?
Patrick is the award-winning author of The Butterfly Isles and Badgerlands, and a Guardian journalist. Critics have called Islander ‘charming and attractive’, ‘a complete delight’ and ‘vibrant and full of fascinating detail’. The Financial Times said: ‘It’s rare to read a book as good-spirited as this, where the narrative voice is so eager, inquisitive but non-judgemental, the worldview so benevolent and open-hearted.’
This will be followed by the opportunity to purchase and have signed Patrick’s publications.
