France is a very big country with many and varied natural or manmade habitats; Mediterannean salt-pans, high mountain tundra, high coastal cliffs. British birdwatchers tend to stick to known areas such as the Camargue, the Pyrenees, the Lac du Der or La Brenne.
There is much more to birdwatching in France than that and in this powerpoint we will examine some far less well known areas or ideas that are just as good for seeing some remarkable birds. Although concentrating on birds we will also mention other forms of wildlife.
