Gary cycled from the Pacific coastline at Lima, Peru, up and over The High Andes, reaching altitudes of over 16,000 feet for four months before reaching the banks of the mighty Madre de Dios River, a tributary of the Amazon. Here Gary dispensed with his bike to travel by an inflatable Alpacka packraft for two months, into extremely remote areas of Amazonia, within the Manu National Park, the most biodiverse place on the planet.

Gary was attempting to become the World Green Birding Champion, undertaking what is known as a BIGBY, a Big Green Big Year. Listing all birds species seen, Gary needed to see 619 bird species to beat the amazing 618 seen by Dorian Anderson of the United States back in 2014.

Come and find out, during a superbly illustrated talk, whether Gary managed to achieve his dream of being the British, the European and the World Green Birding Champion.
