The 2017 Birdfair raised an incredible £333,000  for bird conservation – the second highest total in Birdfair history.

Birdfair Founder and Manager Tim Appleton and Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust Director Simon Bentley handed over the bumper cheque to Birdlife International’s Chief Executive, Patricia Zurita at a presentation ceremony held at the end of February.

Funds raised will help Birdlife International’s campaign  ‘Saving paradise in the Pacific’ which aims to clear invasive predators from one of the remotest islands in the world, the French Polynesian island of Rapa Iti , where non-native rats and goats have been decimating populations of native birds.
