The Birdfair wouldn’t be the huge success it is today without it’s highly committed team of over 350 volunteers. Volunteers from all walks of life, ages and abilities are involved in every aspect of the Fair, from selling tickets and giving advice to visitors and exhibitors, running the events and lectures marquees and auction, to selling merchandise, and acting as stewards.
A 350 strong team might sound pretty big – but we’re always looking for extra pairs of hands to help keep the Birdfair running smoothly!
As a volunteer, you will become an essential part of the Birdfair team and of this amazing event – a few of hours of your time will make all the difference to wildlife around the world. You will receive free entry, giving you the chance to make the most of your day visiting the various exhibitions, a chance to enjoy some of our events and meet wildlife personalities such as Simon King, Chris Packham and Nick Baker to name a few, and attend a few of the hundreds of lectures on offer. Camping is free of charge for Birdfair volunteers – so why not make a weekend of it?
We’re looking for volunteers with an enthusiastic and friendly nature, who are reliable, punctual, confident dealing with the public and who enjoy working as part of a team.
We ask that you can commit to undertaking a minimum of two shifts (5 hours) during the three days of the Birdfair and that you attend our training and information session at the beginning of August (dates and times T.B.C).
If this sounds like it’s for you, or you would like more information, Holly Hucknall, our Volunteer Coordinator is looking forward to hearing from you and will be very happy to help.
